Gorgeous Garters!

It is believed that the tradition of wedding garters is one of the oldest wedding traditions still in practice. According to The Knot.com, throwing the garter is derived from an old English custom called "flinging the stocking." Guests would invade the bridal chamber and steal the bride's stockings, then take turns flinging them. Whoever threw the one that landed on the groom's nose, would be the next to marry. By the 14th century, possession of the garter had become highly esteemed and the bride would often be rushed at the altar by hordes of guests competing for the prize. These days, the groom removes the garter -- generally worn at the sexier mid-thigh level -- from her leg (as innocently as possible, we're sure) and tosses it to his bachelor pals.

Martina Liana Fall 2013 Collection Preview

This Fall 2013 collection shows beautifully crafted couture gowns with delicate touches of lace and beading. All of the silhouettes have a revolutionary feminine feel that will transport you straight off the European runway.  These pieces have a touch of blush, vintage glam, and graphic laces.  We see the new trend of ombre portrayed as well as some geometric and Gatsby inspired dresses.  Fantasy and whimsical elements also play a role in these dresses by providing lavish detail and flowing movement.  We hope you like the new collection from Martina Liana!

 

A beautiful peacock inspired wedding!

We had a great time planning with Katie and her mom, Roberta for Katie and Justin's wedding on June 8th!  They were such a delight and both had the sweetest personalities!  Katie contacted us after seeing our work at a local bridal show.  She knew she wanted peacock feathers incorporated into the design.  We worked swiftly (since we only had about 3 months!) to create her dream wedding with a "peacock flair." Thank you to the Baker family for allowing us to create such a lovely environment for Katie and Justin's special day!  A special thank you to Maggie and Betty from Birds of A Feather Photography for capturing this beautiful peacock inspired wedding!  I hope you enjoy this wonderful wedding...

Calvert Bridal Expo 2013

We had a wonderful time participating in the 2013 Calvert Bridal Expo on March 4th at the Hall at Huntingtown!  We designed a beautiful tablescape featuring flower arrangements on logs, which were created by our floral design service, Stems by Serendipity.  Later during the expo we produced a runway show featuring a sampling of bridal gowns available at Serendipity, as well as several of our tuxedo rentals available.  We had a great time meeting new brides and we are looking forward to helping many more in the future!  We have already had many of our new brides from this Expo in the store selecting wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses, tuxedos and doing floral and event design!
