Be Our Guest!

The honor of your presence is requested...

You are getting married and you want to shout it to the world!  Did you know what one of the original wedding invitations was?  In England, circa 1400's, weddings were announced on the day of the wedding by a town crier and those within earshot would attend.  Engraved invitations became more and more popular beginning around the mid 1600s.

As a couple, your wedding day is one of the most special and loving days of your relationship.  It is important that each detail reflect how honored you are to have your friends and loved ones gather together and join in your celebration.

Many couples take the invitation for granted.  They consider it an added cost to their budget, not realizing it sets the tone for their event and gives guests insight to their style and what to expect on the wedding day.  The invitation is a first impression.  Is your wedding a casual outdoor event, a traditional church ceremony or the grandest of white tie affairs?  All of these details and more will be revealed by a trip to the mailbox.

At Serendipity Bridal and Events, we can meet the stationery needs of any style of wedding.  This is your invitation to schedule an appointment today!

To veil or not to veil...that is the real question!

A veil is an article of clothing that is intended to cover a part of the head or face or an object of significance.  The first reported use of a bridal veil is dated from the 13th century B.C., which was used by noble women.  Who is the most significant, noble woman on your wedding day...YOU, THE BRIDE!
The lifting of the veil may be ceremonially recognized as the crowning event of the wedding, when the beauty of the bride is finally revealed to the groom and to the rest of the guests.
Once you make that all important choice on the perfect gown, the decision of how to put the finishing touch on your bridal vision materializes.  Maybe you don't envision yourself wearing Lady Diana's famous 24 foot cathedral veil, or even Princess Kate's simple fingertip ivory silk tulle veil that seemed to flow effortlessly.  However, framing yourself in a well styled headpiece will certainly set you on your way to being a bridal icon.

Serendipity Bridal and Events offers a variety of veils in every style for every bride. Allow our knowledgeable bridal consultants to assist you in your selection.

Here are several photos of Serendipity Brides and their lovely veiling!

Gorgeous Garters!

It is believed that the tradition of wedding garters is one of the oldest wedding traditions still in practice. According to The Knot.com, throwing the garter is derived from an old English custom called "flinging the stocking." Guests would invade the bridal chamber and steal the bride's stockings, then take turns flinging them. Whoever threw the one that landed on the groom's nose, would be the next to marry. By the 14th century, possession of the garter had become highly esteemed and the bride would often be rushed at the altar by hordes of guests competing for the prize. These days, the groom removes the garter -- generally worn at the sexier mid-thigh level -- from her leg (as innocently as possible, we're sure) and tosses it to his bachelor pals.

We have beautiful and unique garters available at Serendipity to carry out this wedding tradition with style!  Below are several of the garters currently in the store.
